about

A Little Less Blue is a tune I wrote about my struggle with depression. I understand that there is a stigma that lies with mental health issues and it seems almost impossible to talk about depression to anyone who isn't also depressed. So of course, I wrote a song about it.
You'll notice that the song doesn't have a particular climax as I wrote the music to be like the daily struggle. The fact that you just have to chug along each day with all of these thoughts both good and bad running through your head.
This song talking about wanting to run away and wanting so much more but being held down by yourself. It talks about having to deal with people who don't quite understand that the pain is on the inside.
When you're dealing with depression, sometimes it feels like every time you are starting to feel okay and life is treating you well, you get knocked back down again and have to focus on just getting through the day. And you know what? That's okay. Sometimes we gotta take baby steps to get to the point where we want to be.
If you are struggling with depression, know this, you are not alone.
Let's band together and end the stigma friends.

lyrics

Today will be better
and I will work hard to make sure today will be better
cuz yesterday has come and past
and all I can strive for, I can work to is that today, I’ll be better

See how I don’t hope for the happy days and the sunny ways
cuz I’m getting sick of just sitting, waiting, wishing and wasting away
I’ve got my eyes on the prize and so should you
cuz the goal for every single day is just to feel a little less blue

Let me be honest
I’m not running anymore
and for the first time in 22 years,
I’m not afraid, not afraid, not afraid to be alone

and I don’t feel tied down anymore so I’ve got this urge to run and do
every single god damn thing
but I’m just getting started so its kind of strange
this feeling of confined freedom

I’ve got fire and I feel the burning in my chest
but I could just use a rest, take a breath, baby steps now
and now that its over, I’ll rise from the ashes once more.

So screw whatever they’re saying cuz they don’t understand
They’re all lies, they’re surprised and their lack of compromise is astounding
Its time to put my words into action
cuz nothing in life has ever been accomplished without passion
and if you stick to your ambition all your dreams they will come to fruition

Life will get better
just know you’ll have to work hard
and god knows you’ll go far
You’ll face all your demons
Keep lookin’ up,
You’ll get there just in time.
